Because tempeh has a strong and mild flavor at the same time, one of the best ways to season it is with a marinade out of maple syrup, tamari and sesame oil. The sweetness of the maple syrup balances the tartness, the tamari adds even more umami flavor, and the sesame oil helps to bring out the nutty flavor even more. In this recipe we served our marinated and pan-fried tempeh in a creamy and spicy coconut sauce with veggies.
