Zip Zap Circus 2022 Showreel

Zip Zap's 30th year was one filled with fun, celebration and a whole lot of circus magic.

Starting the year with the first live performance of MOYA in February. Our contemporary, authentic story moved audiences in both Cape Town and Johannesburg as we performed at Teatro at Montecasino later in the year.

Slapstick punctuated the middle and end of the year with two runs by our student performers, the Zappers. This fun, mid-century-themed show took audience members young and old on a foot-stomping trip through circus specialities.

In November we unveiled Rhapsody at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town. The 40 member cast included our host of professional jugglers, aerialist and acrobatics alongside a talented 20-piece band conducted by Chad Hendricks. Live hits from Queen, Elton John and Tina Turner formed the backdrop to our symphonic circus show.

This run launched us into our first international tour in the Covid-19 pandemic began. Rhapsodie at Cirque Phenix saw our Zip Zap family perform 90 shows in three months across France and Switzerland to over 350 000 audience members.
