Swami Mukundananda in this video relates to us the significance of the Bhagavad Gita, a 700 verse Hindu scripture based on the knowledge Lord Krishna passed to the world through his devotee Arjuna in Mahabharat. The Bhagavad Gita is also referred to as the 'Song of God' since God himself revealed the divine knowledge for the benefit of souls. 'Bhagavad' means God and 'Gita' means Song.

The goal of everyone is to realize God and seek the divine bliss the soul is longing for eternity. However, knowing God isn't that easy. The Vedas reveal the complete knowledge about God and what are our duties in life, but they are very hard to comprehend. In addition to it, we have different scriptures like the Eighteen Puranas, Vedanta, Upanishads, Ramayan, and Mahabharat through which we can understand Vedic wisdom. However, Lord Krishna says that the Bhagavad Gita is the summary of the Vedic Knowledge found in all other scriptures, presented in a simple way that can be easily understood and followed in our daily lives.

The knowledge in Bhagavad Gita can be understood easily and can be put into practice quickly. Through Bhagavad Gita, we can accomplish the purpose of our lives, which is to practice devotion to God and attain that ultimate bliss we are seeking for. The teachings of Bhagavad Gita can be practiced anywhere at any time, which is why Lord Krishna deliberately related the Bhagavad Gita in the most challenging circumstances - in the battlefield of Mahabharata. The day Lord Krishna revealed this most confidential and divine knowledge to this world is celebrated as Gita Jayanti every year.

Swami Mukundanda, based on the knowledge revealed to him by his Guru (Jadadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, the 5th Jagadguru of this World) has written a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, presented through sound logic and real-life examples that help us to easily understand, remember and practice the teachings of Lord Krishna.
