I could not fathom that I would be leaving this aircraft through the clear plastic sliding door before the plane landed. It was a stupid idea the plane was perfectly good, but for as long as I can remember I had always wanted to do this. The bright red bulb went out, the bright green bulb went on, the altitude watch read 15,000 ft and I pulled the goggles over my eyes. The plastic door slid open, the air we cut through loud and the temperature was cold. We shuffled forward awkwardly, the man strapped to my back pushing me towards the door. My heart was thumping hard and fast, I wanted to look down but he tilted my head back, my body now dangling outside of the aircraft. He was a stranger and I was trusting him with my life. I was not naive I knew we could die... but fuck it! It was as good a day as any.
