"Nick Drake Songs" is the fifth track that I decided to release from "The 2025 Project" - a deep dive into music I've written and recorded over the past 25+ years.

The original "Nick Drake Songs" lyrics were written on May 4, 2014 - 9:18am and May 10, 2014 at 7:07am. It's a simple song, but it captures a snapshot in time for me, sorting through albums in our downstairs living room in Edmonton, on a cozy Sunday afternoon. Just lost in the moment with the woman I love.

This is my love song for Lisa, the love of my life who's been by my side for 19 years. I always wanted to write a simple love song for her, and it came to me right before her birthday in 2014. The lyrics that you hear on this take are improvised in the moment, but loosely follow the original lyrics I wrote. Take 1 of the song had some different phrasing and guitar parts, but I preferred this vibe of take 2. I may one day re-record this song using some of the original lyrics mixed with elements of 2 takes, but for now, take 2 is what you will hear.

Happy Birthday Month to Lisa, and I hope you love this song all over again.
