In this video, I talk about how I'm looking at YouTube with a different perspective to most. For me, it is clear you need to treat it like you would any business. Building an engaged audience is key to growing any online business and unfortunately, in the world we live our attention span seems to get shorter & shorter.

That is why VALUE in your content is so important - what is the audience getting out of it? If your audience feels they are receiving valuable information or advice from you they will not only continue watching your videos but be more likely to engage! There are also, of course, a few tricks and practices you can implement, like jump cuts or just zooming in can help keep things a bit more exciting and stimulate your audience.

All of this is going to help you reach the goal of being monetized sooner rather than later! So what are the actual requirements to getting your YouTube videos monetized? It's actually quite simple and the great thing about it is YouTube sees your relationship as a partnership...they literally call it the YouTube Partner Program, and once you've met the below requirements you will be able to place Google Adsense on your videos :
1000 Subscribers
4000 watch hrs in 12 month period

A lot of you will be asking yourself, will I ever be able to monetize my videos? Now I'm not saying it is easy to get there and these numbers may look unobtainable to you, I was also doubtful if I'm honest asked myself []op until I saw the analytics of my first video coming in. Around 48 hours after uploading the video I had accumulated just under 7 hours of watch time! So just think when you have 10, 20, or even 30 videos uploaded those watch hours start racking up quick!

Once you have hit your goals - you could now be eligible to monetize your YouTube videos! Head to your YouTube Studio and on the left menu you will see Monetization. Proceed to that page and the rest YouTube will walk you through to applying!
