Hyundai Santro 2021 Sportz: 3-Year Experience & Unresolved Problem! | Gadgets & Gear

Welcome back to Gadgets & Gear! In today’s video, I’m reviewing my ownership experience with the 2021 Hyundai Santro Sportz model. It’s been a solid compact city car, but there’s one issue that has been a constant source of frustration—Hyundai still hasn’t been able to resolve the problem with the car key. Let’s dive into the pros, cons, and the key problem that remains unresolved to this day.

Exterior & Design: The Santro Sportz has a neat, compact design that makes it perfect for urban driving. Its smooth lines, vibrant color options, and modern grille give it a fresh look that still feels relevant in 2024. Despite being a few years old, it hasn’t lost its charm and remains eye-catching on the road.

Interior & Comfort: Inside, the Sportz variant offers comfortable seats, decent legroom for a compact car, and a surprising amount of headroom. The dashboard is well laid out, and the touchscreen infotainment system is responsive, offering features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For a city car, the space utilization is impressive. Whether it's daily commuting or short trips, the interior makes the ride comfortable and pleasant.

Performance & Driving Experience: When it comes to driving, the Santro Sportz provides a balanced performance. Its 1.1-liter petrol engine is great for city driving—smooth and peppy, especially in traffic. The car’s compact size makes it easy to maneuver in crowded streets and tight parking spaces. The suspension handles bumps reasonably well, and the overall ride quality is satisfactory for the price range.

Fuel Efficiency: One of the highlights is the car's fuel efficiency. Over the years, I’ve consistently gotten around 18-19 kmpl in city driving, and even better on highways. This makes it a budget-friendly option for daily commuters.

Unresolved Car Key Issue: Now, let’s address the elephant in the room—the car key problem. Since purchasing this car, I’ve been facing issues with the key not functioning as it should. At times, it fails to lock/unlock the car, and occasionally, it doesn’t even respond when trying to start the vehicle using the keyless ignition feature.

Despite multiple visits to the service center, Hyundai has not been able to resolve this issue. It’s been frustrating to deal with this on a day-to-day basis, and I know several other owners have reported similar problems. While the car overall has been a good experience, this key issue is a significant drawback that Hyundai needs to address.

Conclusion: So, after nearly 3 years of ownership, the 2021 Hyundai Santro Sportz has been a reliable, economical, and comfortable car for city driving. However, the unresolved key issue is something potential buyers should be aware of. If Hyundai can fix this, it would greatly enhance the ownership experience.
