Sand Dunes and Seaside - Ynyslas Beach, Borth, Ceredigion, Mid Wales

Описание к видео Sand Dunes and Seaside - Ynyslas Beach, Borth, Ceredigion, Mid Wales

This time I've been on a short wander around the Dyfi Nature Reserve in Borth, Ceredigion. Just north of Aberystwyth in Mid Wales.
About half the length of my usual videos for this one, because it was another unintended capture. I went for a quick explore whilst I had some light left and found it was nicer than expected. So I thought I might as well grab a video too with the evening being so nice, albeit a bit windy! (as ever).
The Dyfi Nature Reserve is on the estuary end of the river Dyfi, just over the water from Aberdyfi/Aberdovey. It's a nice quiet spot with a protected nesting area for Ringed Plovers. Which I'm fairly sure I saw a couple of groups of by the shore, but they weren't big on being on camera.
I did visit again in the daytime with my family, and the tide stretches way out to reveal a lot of explorable area. But on this earlier visit it was probably pushing for 9pm when I was finishing and the tide was right in as you'll see. Most definitely a place to watch where you park :-D
The sand dune walks in this area a very nice and clean, well worth a good explore. Especially if you have more daylight left than I did. The walks weave in and out of the dunes and Ynyslas beach for a decent distance, and provide a few high points for some stretching views.

This walk begins at Ynyslas Nature Reserve car park. From there we'll simply be walking around the outside edge of the sand dunes, with Aberdyfi/Aberdovey across the river's mouth providing a nice view. We're following the estuary's edge around, until we are cut off by the protected space at the northerly point. Then we'll be cutting west towards the sea, through the beginnings of the dunes and the long windswept grasses. It's not a long walk from here to the beach where, if you're lucky you can find the remains of a bronze age forest lying in the sand.
Once at the beach it's a few meditative moments of staring at the sea and watching the mute colours reflect from the waves, then we'll walk south along the beach whilst the sea comes right in. It's not very long before we need to head back into the dunes and choose our favourite route through the rabbit runs (a warren of walks you might say, ha). It's a silent space in here, out of the wind in the last light. The sand muffles the footsteps and the sea is slowly blocked out. There's just a few birds getting ready for bed and the grass waving us away as we come out of the other side against the now tidally full estuary. From here, what remains of the car park can be seen and it's an easy wander along the slowly lapping water, back to where we started.
A nice end to any day.
Thanks for watching my video. If you would like to see more, I have plenty to see and always more on the way. So please do like the video to let me know it was a worthy one, and subscribe to encourage me to keep it up! Every new subscriber encourages me to keep getting out there and walking the countryside. I don't need too much encouragement to get out there, but I do to lug the camera and gimbal around with me :-D
