Gord Yoshida, Fire Protection Engineer, Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management was interviewed at The Buildings Show 2015 about the recent update the Ontario Fire Code.

Mr. Yoshida provides insight into some of the more than 600 OFC changes that came into effect in 2015. Some of these changes and updates include: regulations around carbon monoxide alarms requirements; smoke alarm replacement rates; new technologies in building safety signage; and preventing fire-safety hazards in renovations.

As enforcement of the OFC through ticketing provisions under the Provincial Offences Act has been expanded to cover many more infractions, property managers and building owners will need to become familiar with these new rules to remain compliant and avoid penalties.
