Finding the perfect desk for a small home office nook in my rental cottage is not easy. When your space is limited as well as your budget, I had to get creative and resourceful. I always admired the thick butcher block pieces they have at Lowes, especially the ones in a chevron pattern.

Now that I found the perfect top for a desk, what about the legs? I love the industrial look of a trestle base for a table and thought that my French metal stools could make for some great sturdy legs for a desk. My original stools were too short so I went on the hunt for the same style of stool in a taller bar height...and I found them for $15!

Luckily, my contractor friend Joe was at the rental cottage installing a sink so he could show me the proper way to attach the stools to the wood top.
