Friday, 22 November 2024, Kathmandu Medical College Public Limited and CAHO International (Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations) jointly organized an international conference on Healthcare Quality Management and Patient Safety, branded as “CAHO NEPACON First Edition 2024.” The conference, held at Hotel Ryne, Gaushala, Kathmandu, Nepal, was themed “Enhancing Patient Safety through Technology: Innovations in Healthcare.”
The event was a grand and remarkably successful occasion, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Health and Population Minister, Pradip Poudel, as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of patient safety and the need to advance healthcare systems through modern technology and innovations, including artificial intelligence.
The program was conceptualized by the young and dynamic Chairperson of Kathmandu Medical College, Ms. Soina Sharma, along with highly experienced delegates from CAHO. The event brought together healthcare professionals, decision-makers, clinicians, and academicians from both governmental and non-governmental sectors across Nepal and India.
Renowned speakers from India, including the Chairperson of the CAHO International Forum, the President of CAHO, the General Secretary of CAHO, and the Joint Managing Director of CAHO, along with esteemed experts from Nepal, shared valuable insights on various healthcare-related topics.
More than 175 healthcare professionals from institutions in Nepal and India participated in this event. These institutions included the Ministry of Health and Population, the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), BIR Hospital, the National Trauma Center, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Kathmandu University, Nepal Medical Council, Medical Education Council, the Private Medical and Dental College Association, the Association of Private Hospitals in Nepal, Nepal Health Professional Council, the Medical Education Commission, Nepal Nursing Council, Social Security Fund (SSF), Nepal Insurance Board, Armed Police Force Hospital, Birendra Army Hospital, Police Hospital, Patan Academy of Medical Sciences, Nepal Medical College, National Medical College Birgunj, Chitwan Medical College, Mediciti Hospital, Norvic International Hospital, Civil Hospital, KIST Medical College, Tilganga Academy of Ophthalmology, Janaki Medical College, Manipal College Pokhara, Nobel Medical College Biratnagar, and Birat Medical College Biratnagar.
The program highlighted the latest technological, clinical, and professional development trends in healthcare institutions globally. Key topics included Emotional Intelligence in Healthcare Leadership, Disaster Management, Clinical Communication, International Patient Safety Goals, Operational Efficiency, and Balanced Scorecards. These sessions were delivered by individual experts or panels, enriching the participants' knowledge and understanding of the evolving healthcare landscape.
