One thing on that cultural war: Last
night. on "Saturday Night Live."
Shinead O'Connor, a fine citizen from
Ireland, got up the first act on "Saturday Night Live"-this is the kind of
thing that BILL would alert our country to-and after she sang a song, and
not too well, I might add, started shaking. You could see she was up to something. She said, "We must fight evil in
this country, we must fight evil, we must stop the evil." She was shaking
on the emotional tirade. She pulls out

a big picture from behind her, folded up
into four parts, and she unfolds it and
it is a color picture of John Paul II, the
Pope, with his hands raised in a gesture, I guess, and she begins to tear it
to shreds on the stage.
So I guess "Saturday Night" is truly
"live." The audience did not cheer,
thank God, but they did not boo either.
They sat their in stunned silence.
That is a kind of an outrage against
Christianity or any denomination that
BILL DANNEMEYER was the most forthright fighter in this House against. I
am really going to miss him.
