Marriage is God’s idea and it’s a good thing

Foundational Thoughts
1. Marriage is of God, it is not a societal construct
2. Marriage is for biologically male and female individuals
3. Marriage by design is forever
4. Marriage is for one man and his wife
5. Marriage is a covenant not a contract

Fear is never of God; it an either be of facts or falsity

1John 4:18

God does not want us to approach marriage from a fear standpoint

Three major Marital fears
1. The fear of making a wrong choice
- The success of a marriage does not come in finding the right person but in the ability of both partners to adjust to the real person they inevitably married.
- A major determinant of the health of a marriage is hardness of heart.

2. The fear of commitment
- Healthy marriages require a forever commitment

3. The fear of vulnerability
- To be vulnerable, you must have the readiness and willingness to show your authentic self even when you don’t know everything yet
- You must be willing to give and receive vulnerability
