Описание к видео Fossil hunting fanatic

Grade 175/180 assigned 7/12/2020 by Dr. Maze

Barnes Informative topical Speech Fossil Hunting Topical Organization
for Dr. Maze @ NWCC
I. Introduction
A. Attention-getter: Fossil hunting is free and can be solo or in a group! Embraced by Fossil hunting Fanatics.
B. Introduce topic: Always, but especially with COVID-19 social distancing, fossil hunting is a great way to get outside and explore.
C. Ethos: My fossil collection dates to about 1975. I have been doing videos on the topic since 2015.
D. Link to Audience: If there is gravel, there are likely fossils. Fossils are everywhere.
E. Thesis: Today, let us talk about becoming fossil hunters; paleontologists in Mississippi!
F. Preview of Speech:
1. Looking in the gravel
2. An Excursion to Frankstown
3. A trip to other Mississippi locations

Transition: Since I was young, I was a careful inspector of the gravel below.
Body 1: Look for order and geometry in gravel.

Transition: Let us talk about a location with ease of access and existing permissions in the mid-South: Frankstown fossil park.

Please check out “Digging it up,” a Mississippi Roads episode featuring my exploration at the Frankstown site.

Body 2: Bakker (430) described the shallow Cretaceous oceans that covered Mississippi which ended in mass dinosaur extinction about 65 MYA. The Frankstown site is loaded with these Cretaceous fossils.

Body 3: Other sites in Mississippi
Dockery wrote fictional tales “Windows into Mississippi’s geologic past,” about how it would be to see the living fossils in MS while living in past eras. This is also downloadable free.
Daly spent valuable time documenting sites across the entire state of Mississippi “A list, bibliography and index of the fossil vertebrates of Mississippi,” where fossils can be found. This is a free download.
America’s Wetland Foundation, in their article “Formation and Evolution of the Delta,” described the Mississippi embayment in which the coastline moved further south in the state from the Cretaceous Period and the Eocene, Miocene and Pleistocene Epochs to allow for a variety of different marine creatures across the state as described by Dockery and Daly in their publications.
I hunted shark teeth with my Dad who was my scoutmaster near Byram, MS.

III. Conclusion and Closer:
A. Restate Thesis: Becoming a fossil hunting fanatic is easy in Mississippi. Fossil hunting is a free solo or group activity.
B. Review main points: Gravel for solo, Frankstown or other sites in Mississippi are possible for group activities but permissions must be gained.
Closer: Beautiful Mississippi has plenty of opportunities to be the Fossil Fanatic!
