The Developer Summit opened with the keynote address, which included a welcome address from CEO Anthony Wood, the traditional recap of the past year in streaming and key industry trends, new product and feature announcements, and a summary of new features recently added to the Roku Developer Portal.

Announcements made during the keynote included:

Roku Cloud Emulator (scheduled for release in 2026) – A new tool that will allow developers to test their apps on a virtual device, eliminating the need for a physical one.

Phased App Rollouts – Developers will be able to release their apps to a small percentage of users before full deployment, helping identify and resolve issues early.

Optimized data transfer and reference handling – Developers can leverage new BrightScripts APIs that optimize memory usage and remove performance bottlenecks, resulting in smoother app performance and an improved user experience.
