This Is Exclusive: 150-Yr-Old Stepwell Unearthed in Sambhal by ASI During Excavation

A 125-150-year-old stepwell spanning 400 square meters has been unearthed during an excavation in the Laxman Ganj area of Chandausi. The discovery follows the reopening of the Bhasma Shankar temple, closed for 46 years, and was part of an anti-encroachment drive.

The stepwell, believed to have historical significance, features brickwork on its upper floors and marble on the lower levels, along with four rooms and a well. Local sources suggest it was constructed during the reign of the maternal grandfather of the king of Bilari. Authorities are considering a detailed survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to further explore the site's heritage.
