With the electoral season reaching a major turning point, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance of presidential candidate William Ruto has today named Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate, ahead of the 2022 presidential elections, due on August 9. Gachagua, also a member of the Kenyan parliament, is of Kikuyu ethnicity, which had been seen as a major requirement to scoop votes from this community. Ruto's major opponent Raila Odinga is expected to announce his running mate tomorrow by midday, laying down a major marker for the campaign.
