Megumi Nishijima
Hi, I’m Megumi — a yoga teacher, editor/writer, and tour guide based in Tokyo, originally from Okayama, Japan.
I began my career as a book and magazine editor after graduating from university, but chronic health challenges like frozen shoulders and stomach pain led me to my first yoga class, and it changed everything. I instantly fell in love with yoga’s philosophy, and in 2011, I completed my RYT200 to explore it more deeply.
In 2017, I left the editing company to become a freelance yoga teacher while continuing my work as a writer and editor. I had always loved English since childhood, and in 2018, I decided to begin learning again so I could connect with more people around the world. By 2020, I was teaching yoga in English with the same softness and mindfulness that define my Japanese classes. This blend of gentle instruction, Japanese sensibility, and quiet presence naturally resonated with international students and became an unexpected part of my global brand.
In 2024, I added a new path to my journey as a tour guide, creating opportunities to share culture, mindfulness, and movement with travelers from many countries. Guiding tours in English allowed me to meet people from around the world and bring the spirit of connection into my daily work.
I started this YouTube channel in 2019 to offer accessible yoga classes and mindful practices that support your well-being wherever you are. My first online course, Yoga for Inner Peace (in Japanese), is now a best-seller on Udemy.
Today, I combine my background in writing, yoga, and cross-cultural storytelling to create spaces — online and in person — where people can breathe, soften, and reconnect with themselves.
