Black Western Electro Guitare is a musical exploration of epic dimensions: a solitary duo, with their fetish instruments, generate, contemplate and traverse the vastness of imaginary landscapes in the Cour Sonore of the Familistère de Guise.
Guitars and synthesizers form the living electrical source that feeds a real-time sound-generating device created for the occasion. The computer is constantly tuned in to the instruments, which become powerful purveyors of sound matter, capable of creating new musical forms from simple playing modes derived from rock and electro music. These musical forms generated by the electronics paint a set of soundscapes, imagined as emanations of natural elements: waves and surf, winds and rain, whirlpools and shimmers, abysses and deserts... Black Western Electro Guitare offers a new rock/contemporary “voyage into Utopia”, inspired by the immensity of the Cour Sonore du Familistère.
The Familistère de Guise is a landmark of social history, of which it has become a living museum. It houses a musical instrument unique in the world: an orchestra of sixty loudspeakers concealed in the architecture of the central pavilion - la Cour Sonore. Under the immense glass roof, it's all cement and tiles: natural cathedral acoustics, brilliant and rebellious. With Black Western Electro Guitare, Manuel Poletti, and with him Martin Antiphon, invests this singular space and sound diffusion device with an original spatialized electronic/rock performance, captured live.
