Changing Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter on a Jeep Wrangler JK

Описание к видео Changing Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter on a Jeep Wrangler JK

This video is about changing the automatic transmission fluid in a Jeep Wrangler JK. It includes changing the fluid (ATF+4) and the filter & pan gasket. This will apply to all 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Models with a W5A580 5 Speed Automatic Transmission Pan. We also used the WIX 58845 Transmission Filter and molded rubber gasket kit. You will need an 18mm socket, a 15 or 16mm socket (for the transmission mount) and a 10mm socket for one of the pan bolts. You will also need a T-30 Torx bit for the pan bolts. I also suggest a breaker bar to remove the 18mm TSKID Plate.

SAFETY IS VERY CRITICAL with this project. DO NOT ATTEMPT to do this at home if you are not a professional mechanic. Seek a professional service provider. A high Temperature of the fluid is required to extract to get the most out during extraction. Do not remove the pan when the fluid is hot. SAFETY GLASSES IS A MUST and recommend a face shield. Do not get fluid on your face or eyes. Gloves are also recommended. This video is informational only.

The capacity when changing fluid and filter is approximately 4 Quarts but this may vary depending on how much you have left in the entire system. An complete flush of the system requires 10 Quarts of fluid. Filling it back up will be based on the COLD and HOT dipstick level indicators.

An OEM Transmission Pan does not have a drain plug like an oil pan or differential. You must either siphon (extract) the fluid out from the fill nozzle or you must loosen the pan and remove it allowing the fluid to drain in a catch pan. The fluid required for these Jeeps are an ATF +4 Automatic transmission fluid. There are a few vendors but it must be ATF +4 formulation. In this video, we used a 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK w/ 3.6L.
