Info about Victorian London:

By the 19th century, under Queen Victoria's rule, London became the global capital of invention with its technological advancement. It was divided into seven boroughs - the City of London, Lambeth, The Strand, Westminster, Southwark, Whitechapel, and the River Thames - each with a different culture but with a single commonality. As country folk moved in to the city for employment, however, it resulted in a sudden increase in population and decrease in wages, in addition to most businessmen abusing workers. These actions became a spark for the Industrial Revolution.

By 1860, London was under the control of the Templar Grand Master Crawford Starrick, who used his network of Templar agents to control the city and oppress the working classes to keep the Templars in power. With Starrick Industries, the Templars had an influence on the industrial sphere of London and with the Blighters gang of Maxwell Roth, the Templars had control on the London's underworld.

About the game:

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is the ninth main installment in the Assassin's Creed series.

The game has the player take on the role of an Initiate as they explore the story of the twin protagonists, Jacob and Evie Frye, both of whom are playable. The two arrive in London in 1868, as the Industrial Revolution reaches its climax, bringing its lot of inequality and poverty in a city controlled by the Templars. To stop their rule, the Fryes will take over the organized crime in an effort to gather an army and free London.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is set primarily in 19th century London, during the Victorian era.
