🍲Khorma Beriz – A Sweet Taste from Langar Village | Local Food – Iran
In the heart of Langar, a traditional village near Mahan in Kerman Province, we discovered a unique and heartwarming snack called Khorma Beriz. Made from just a few ingredients—dates, wheat flour, and animal fat—this rural treat is cooked slowly over a kerosene flame and traditionally served with a glass of hot tea. It’s a dish full of energy, memories, and the warmth of village life.
✨ This documentary was filmed at Golnardokht Ecolodge , a beautiful clay-brick house turned into a family-run guesthouse, lovingly managed by Mrs. Gholamhoseinzadeh. The moment you step into this place, you’re not just staying somewhere—you’re living the culture, tasting the tradition, and feeling the soul of rural Kerman.
👩🍳 How to Make Khorma Beriz:
The recipe is simple and honest: remove the pits from soft dates and sauté them gently until aromatic. Then add wheat flour and traditional fat (like ghee or local animal fat), stirring over low heat until the mixture thickens and turns golden. The result is a dense, sweet, and comforting dish that warms you up—especially during cold evenings.
