Made by Aspen Business Communications for the British Railways Board. This is a new transfer of the film which is of better quality than the original upload (which has now been deleted from my channel, but may still exist elsewhere). This is the complete film, with just three images pixillated. See why in the text below.

This programme tells the story of a group of children who decide to use a railway line as a short cut home. One child does not make it across the tracks, being killed by a train.
Includes interviews with train drivers whose trains have killed trespassers, police officers who have had to clear up the aftermath and inform relatives and, finally, with the mother of a teenage victim. The story and the interviews leave the viewer with a clear message not to trespass upon railway property and lines.

This production was made on video and transferred to 16mm film for distribution. This recording is taken from a film print.

I have decided to 'obscure' some shots where actual photographs of dead accident victims are shown. This film was designed to be shown under controlled conditions with a teacher or railway official present. Obviously on YouTube anyone can watch the film so I feel that it is only responsible to censor these sections to respect the families of the victims who allowed the pictures to be shown. The original pictures clearly show their faces and I wanted to retain the power of the film without clear identification of the victims. There would be a risk of people taking the images out of context and using them elsewhere for entertainment.

This new film transfer has been taken from the original 16mm print, which was cleaned and retransferred in much higher quality. The original version had some tiny edits to get the running time under 15 minutes which was the limit for YouTube uploads in 2010. The shots of accident victims have been pixilated as before, but the clarity of the new transfer makes these images more shocking. Apologies if this offends anyone. According to the British Film Institute, only a few prints were ever made of this film and it was difficult to track down this copy.

Finally, just to clarify, as I have had a number of people ask - I will not provide an uncensored/unpixilated version of this film. Thank you for reading.
