A few years ago I purchased a Chuwi Hi10 Air tablet from Wish to mainly use as a display to show APRS stations on a map using a radio connected to it and a Bluetooth GPS receiver that kept the location accurate and allowed a beacon to be sent without the radio being in range of an igate or digipeater (which is perfect for APRS in 50km radius of Scarborough in North Yorkshire as APRS is not allowed there on 2-metres and I visit Scarborough to see my friend there on occasions)

I have got a similar setup working on Linux on my desktop computer so I can easily port this over to a Raspberry Pi and use a car head unit as a display if HDMI input exists, of course I need a car first but that is a way off yet.

The Hi10 tablet is out of the question as its eMMC internal storage has failed in a manner rendering it read only which requires a complete replacement, if this happened to a Raspberry Pi then a microSD card is easy to get hold of.

The radio is the Yaesu FTM-400XDE and its supplied SCU-20 USB cable (based on our old 'favourite' Prolific PL2303 chip which while always works in Linux it is a nightmare with Windows.
