Today we are talking about some Nikon Z30 features that are harder to find and trying a feature I have never tried together! Let's get going.

The Nikon Z30 camera, I think I learn something new about it every couple of days! There are so many settings, configurations, I think it will take me a long time to learn them all.

I had a subscriber ask about the autofocus and wanted to share with you how I have my autofocus set, some of the different autofocus options and what feels like a secret setting that can derail the autofocus. First you select menu then the video camera option. Then Focus mode which tells you the type of focus mode you have, single, continuous, full-time, or manual. I leave my in full time so it is one less thing to worry about. Then you go back to the previous menu and then select AF-area mode which gives you several options for the type of subject you are wanting to focus on. Because I mainly video myself or people, that is the setting I choose to leave it on. Next, the secret setting that impacted my videos until I learned about it. That is the lens control ring setting. It is default to manual focus. I found that I would accidently bump this ring and then couldn't figure out why the autofocus was no longer working. If you go back to the main menu and select the pencil icon, then select video, then custom controls and then the bottom right hand box on the chart and turn it off. I have not had any focus issues since I made this one change.

Now, I want to take a minute to talk about the remote control that comes with the creator kit. One of you reached out concerned because the remote didn't want to pair with the camera. I have had that happen a couple of times so let's walk step by step of how to pair the remote and then where I go if it isn't wanting to pair. First make sure the clear battery protector has been removed from shipping, then turn on the camera, and press the on/off button on the bottom right hand side of the remote. A light will blink green on the top right hand side of the remote, I then click the record or picture button a couple of times until it starts a recording or takes a photo. If this doesn't work, then go into the menu, select the wrench icon, then wireless remote. Make sure it is on. I have had issues that it turned itself off. I then had to go into the menu and turn it back on.

Alright, in this part of the video I wanted to try something new and use my camera as a web cam, but I am having a hard time getting it to register the camera as an option on my Mac. So I will continue working on it and take you along in a future video.

I hope you learned something from today's video! If you liked this video you should watch this one where I answer some of your questions and discuss the settings I am using. Until next time. Bye!
