Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

The weather forecast was bleak yesterday evening and I was not sure if I would be able to get a chance to fly today, but fortunately, the expected dense fog held off and so did the frontal passage which brought gusty wind conditions later in the morning, so I was able to get in a good flight!

In the video introduction today, I discuss many permits of interest from around the site (just a small fraction of the almost 700 active permits right now and almost 2,000 permits used for 2024! This permit discussion mainly focused on the work at the electrical switchyard where added capacity, a 3rd huge transformer and control room, and a new Megapack installation. I also talk about how the two Megabucks appear to be wired differently, providing additional evidence of the two distinctly different purposes of these two Megapacks.

I also discuss permits for the east Casting machine section addition, which is the new Melt Center, or also known as the aluminum scrap recycling area with large furnaces, a furnace charging machine, screed machines to tend to the molten aluminum and more. Also, I talk about a new permit that hints at what might be additional work for another Giga Press (aka a Die Cast Machine or DCM) and I compare this to recent reports by IDRA of another 9K ton Giga Press finished for Tesla. I am not certain if this new Giga Press is destined for Giga Texas, or if it might be going elsewhere, perhaps Giga Nevada, for example, but I will continue to monitor the site to see if we can get additional clues.

Finally, I talk about permits for the west support facility, the Boring Company Cybertunnel, which is referred to as Portal #1 and I show where the second Boring Company tunnel is going to be constructed (aka Portal #2) sometime in 2025, and a few other permits of note.

A few highlights from the drone flight today to look for include:
On the west side, not only have two large cranes been assembled, but we now see the semi-circular forms being prepared next to a circular ground excavation, suggesting some kind of concrete tank system may be constructed in this new yard near the south bridge.

Also, we see the new roads through this are have not only been paved but are getting the lane markings painted on them today. This new road will allow direct connection to the Boring Company Cybertunnel from River Road and continues up to the west End-of-Line (EOL) facility.

The Boring Company crews were busy preparing more stainless-steel skin to be applied to the superstructure over the tunnel. This is a Cybertruck-inspired cover for the tunnel and once completed, the tunnel should be ready for operation. The goal is to have this ready to carry the first Cybertruck all the way from the end of the production line and to the EOL facility by Christmas.

At the south end of the EOL where the Supercharging stations are located, we see 6 of the eventual 8 canopies now have a gray canvas material installed. One more is awaiting the canvas installation, while the final one still needs the steel frame installed onto the mounting poles.

At the electrical switchyard today, we see the third control trailer has now been installed on the underground concrete vault, and this is associated with the 3rd new Transformer, the 2 new A-Frames, and the associated steel assemblies in the switchyard and the new Megapack site.

Finally, at the east side of the casting machine section of the factory, I get in low and close to provide views of the furnace charging machine, views of portions of one of the furnaces and additional equipment being installed for the Melt Center structure.
