So a guy awhile back told me he loved his vintage USA Crate cabinet. I saw one local and did a little research and liked what I saw. It's an oversized USA made birch cabinet, an inch deeper and taller than the Randall XL cab, and 2-3 inches taller than a Mesa oversize cab.
The v30's in the Randall have been favorite for a long time but I love how this cab turned out and how useful it is.
When I heard the square magnet cheap Studio Pro 40 speaker, I was wow'd at how cool it sounded and how much of the qualities of the HM-2 bands it retains on it's own. It's like a rotten version of a V30. Instant Swedish Sunlight Studio death metal characteristics.
The Scorpions have a large range---- listen to the slides in the 1st riff in comparison to v30's. Awesome stiff low definition. The Studio Pro 40 speaker and these blend nicely.
Finally, there is a Warehouse speakers Reaper HP 50 in the top left of the Crate cabinet which was not shown in this demo. Overall it serves as a perfect breakup for solos at mid-high levels speaker.
The ideas this conjures up for is running a midi rig for switching live mics on the cab through a processor like Axe Fx III with also effects and post. Since I play with larger rigs this can be done with a wet cab or two. Rhythm and lead speakers also can have mic volumes adjust on the fly. etc.
