Описание к видео Court docs reveal new details in Tepe case; McKee allegedly seen near home weeks before killings

Court documents obtained by 10TV's Lacey Crisp allege that Michael McKee, the ex-husband charged in the homicides of the Tepe couple, was spotted at their property weeks before the deaths.

Spencer and Monique Tepe were found dead in their Weinland Park house on Dec. 30 after the Columbus Division of Police performed a well-being check.

McKee, who court documents say was Monique’s ex-husband, was identified as the suspect in their deaths and was indicted on four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated burglary. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The affidavit also states that Monique and Spencer were at the Big Ten Championship game in Indiana on Dec. 6 with other friends. Monique went back to her hotel during the second half of the game.

According to the affidavit, McKee was seen on video entering Tepe’s property on N. 4th Street on Dec. 6, 2025, and leaving a few hours later when the couple was away.

The affidavit states that McKee’s phone was left at his job in Rockford, Illinois, and showed no activity for approximately 17 hours from Dec. 29 until after noon on Dec. 30.

Friends and family told detectives that Monique shared that McKee was abusive and threatened her during and after their marriage, according to the affidavit. One of the witnesses shared that McKee allegedly forced unwanted sex and strangulation.

The affidavit states that McKee told Monique that “he could kill her at any time and would find her and buy the house right next to her, that she will always be his wife.”

When asked why Monique left the game, Spencer said she was upset about “something involving her ex-husband and was going back to the hotel,” according to the affidavit.

The new details come a week after McKee was arraigned last week. No bond was issued. If convicted, McKee faces a minimum of life in prison with parole eligibility after 32 years.

McKee was first arrested on Jan. 10 in Illinois. He is currently booked in the James A. Karnes Corrections Center in Franklin County.
