It has been an impressive time here at the Bureau of Reclamation. Through President Biden's Investing in America agenda, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, Reclamation has allocated more than $2.29 billion in projects and $426 million in funding opportunities for the American West. And this is what it looks like…

Small storage projects received $35 million, and the Upper Colorado River Basin was allocated $30 million for 114 projects. Wetland funding in the lower Colorado River area secured $25 million. Solar over canals projects received $19 million.

Upper Colorado River drought planning received $29.7 million, and $13.3 million was designated for 51 applied science projects. WaterSMART project design grants totaled $11 million. Endangered species recovery in the Colorado River Basin received $21 million. Drought resiliency projects were allocated $147 million for 42 initiatives. The Rio Grande Basin secured $60 million, while aging infrastructure was addressed with $520 million.

Large-scale recycling projects were awarded $179.7 million, and storage and conveyance projects received $242 million. Long-term water conservation in the Lower Colorado River Basin was funded with $700 million. Desalination construction and water recycling projects received $142 million, and rural water projects were allocated $43 million.

These investments demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainable water management and infrastructure improvement, with hundreds of millions in additional funding opportunities currently open. And we’re not done yet!
