Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on his maiden visit to the The Republic of Maldives. This will be his first State visit in his second term as the Indian Prime Minister. After a lull in the Indian-Maldivian relationship, this visit will be symbolic of the turn around in the bilateral relations. In light of the predatory economic development policies carried out by China in the Indian Ocean neighborhood and the Chinese String of Pearls startegy, India has to ensure the stability and security of its broader neighborhood and the Indian Ocean.
