The Faculty of Humanities is the largest faculty at Rhodes University. It comprises of 11 Academic departments, two Schools and seven Affiliated Institutes. Broadly speaking, the faculty offers a variety of courses within four categories, which are Arts (Fine Arts, Drama, Music), Languages (isiXhosa, English, Afrikaans, Linguistics, French, German, Latin, Greek), Professional Offering (Journalism and Media Studies), and Social Studies (Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Political Studies, History and Philosophy).
