I started gaming late in life because I never enjoyed playing against the computer as it was either to scripted or made ridiculously difficult. It wasn’t until I discovered multiplayer on-line gaming that it really peaked my interest starting with Medal of Honor and HALO – the frustration of getting owned so easily for some reason didn’t discourage me, it made me want to get better and get to a point where I was at least competitive! It wasn’t until a friend introduced me to BF 1942 and then 2142, that I became hooked on the series and after a brief adventure into Call of Duty (COD) starting with COD4 Modern Warfare and moving on to MW2 and Black Ops, I am back playing battlefield almost exclusively. I am mainly a PC gamer because I am terrible at using a controller on first person shooters (which is my favourite genre)!

Battlefield is a series of first-person shooter video games that started with Battlefield 1942, which was released in 2002. The series is developed by DICE, based in Sweden and published by Electronic Arts (EA). The series features a greater focus on large maps, teamwork and vehicle warfare than traditional first-person shooters. Earlier ones didn’t even have a traditional single-player campaign, it was simply the same as multiplayer, but with bots – this shows the focus and roots in multiplayer. Over the years, there have been many iterations including titles such as Battlefield 2 (modern warfare), Battlefield Bad Company (including Vietnam), Battlefield 2142 (an excellent science fiction/futuristic version), Battlefield 1943, Battlefield 3, the current Battlefield 4 and the upcoming Battlefield Hardline.
