In this video, I team up with my buddy ‪@Urbex_therapy‬ explore a forgotten piece of LA’s underground history. Hidden beneath a historic bar built in 1906, this sealed-off basement once operated as a fully functioning speakeasy during the Prohibition era (1920–1933) a time when the sale and consumption of alcohol was illegal across the U.S.

What looked like an ordinary piano shop at street level was actually a cover for the hidden bar below. Patrons would slip into the basement to drink, socialize, and dodge the law, all while the city moved quietly above. Today, it’s sealed, dark, and decaying—but echoes of its past are still there: murals, old signs, bricked-up passages, and tunnels that once connected to other parts of Downtown LA.

This spot has ties to LA literary legends like John Fante, who referenced the bar in his classic novel Ask the Dust. It's also said to have been frequented by people from all walks of life—bootleggers, musicians, and writers—adding to its rich, gritty legacy.

While the location remains undisclosed to protect its history and safety, this exploration offers a rare glimpse into the forgotten underworld of LA’s Prohibition past.
