British Airways Trip Report flying from London to Dubai onboard one of the British Airways Airbus A380s on a lovely winter day

A comfortable flight onboard the British Airways A380 from London to Dubai. British Airways operates the flight daily with Airbus A380, while its competitor, Emirates, operates up to 9 daily flights to/from London. After checking the BA service and that both airlines have the same prices... I still can't understand how this flight was almost full.

I can't say that it was a bad experience, but as a summary: less cabin crew leading to a very slow service (2h for a lunch), clearly lower quality food and less elaboration, worse entertainment system, older seats... the only reason I can see to choose BA instead of EK on this route is if you need to get points for your One World status, or a connecting flight from a small city. In any other case, there are just no reasons to do it.

We took off from Heathrow to the west and quickly made a 180° turn to start our route to Dubai. We flew over The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania, before entering the Black Sea. From there Turkiye, Iraq, the Persian Gulf and, finally, the UAE, landing a few minutes late at Dubai airport.

About the onboard service, the main meal came just after takeoff, but due to the super-slow service, it finished almost 2h30min after takeoff. There were 2 options: chicken or pasta. I choose the chicken with rice. It was quite good. The salad was without almost any taste and the crumble we got for dessert was completely liquid. 1h before landing a warm snack was offered together with juice or water.

All in all, an average experience on the British Airways A380. It would be more or less good if they wouldn't compete with Emirates on the route... but the comparison can't be avoided. Emirates is better than BA on this route in every single aspect. Sad to say but that's the reality.
