Описание к видео Grace Lee's Journey: Korean Language and Culture Flourish in Patna

In 1997, Grace Lee, a Korean language teacher came to Patna with her husband and made the city her home. Initially, Korea and its culture were largely unknown. People know about Japan and China but nothing about Korea but today the Korean wave is spreading all over the world. Some 100-odd students are learning Korean at King Sejong Institute run by the Korean Culture Centre India at Patna’s Anugrah Narayan College. Grace says some students wish to learn the language because they are in love with K-drama and K-pop, BTS army while others want to go for higher studies in Korea or make a living in that country. Many of her students are already in Korea or other parts of the world. Ihina is among 100-odd students who aspires to pursue a law degree in Korea and said that the two countries have a lot in common, for example how we value family ties. Grace says while talking about the similarities between Indian and Korean culture, both the countries prioritise their families and show a lot of respect to elders. Taking care of parents in old age is a must for every Korean.
