Artistic Meditations on Scripture by Artist and Author Julie R. Elroy. In Part Eight of "Mama’s Prayer Closet" Painting Series, I am showing the very first layer of paint for my upcoming painting called, “Mama’s Prayer Closet.” This painting will be included in my upcoming book that you will find on Amazon or your local bookstore. I talk about the light source, and the main focal point in the painting.
In John 1:1-5, we learn that in the beginning of time, the time of creation, Jesus was with God. Jesus is also the Light and no darkness can extinguish that light. I talk about the main focal point of the painting being the glowing Bible and the baby oak tree growing out of it. The Bible is showing the Light of Jesus. The baby oak tree is showing spiritual growth from reading the Bible, God’s Word. The oak is showing the Holy Spirit and Faith growing. When we accept what Jesus did for us on the cross and ask Him for forgiveness of our sins, the Holy Spirit then lives in us. The Holy Spirit is a part of Jesus living inside of us. Jesus is the way for us to connect to God through the Holy Spirit. By reading the Bible we will continue to grow our relationship, our faith, and our strength through the Holy Spirit. This is why I have an oak tree. It can grow very large and strong. I hope you will accept Jesus as your Savior and begin growing spiritually today.
