Aloo Kurma Recipe | Potato Kurma Recipe | Side Dish for Roti Rice Chapati Recipe| Deccan Flavors
Ingredients
2 large Potatoes, cubed
1/4 cup green peas,
Ingredients for chana dal masala paste
2 tbsp - chana dal
6 dried red chilis
1 coconut, grated
10-12 cashew nuts
Other Ingredients
2 medium sized onions, finely chopped
1 tomato, diced
2 tbsp red chili powder
salt to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp garam masala
2 bay leaves
2 inch cinnamon stick
1 tsp cumin seeds
4-5 green chilis, roughly chopped
mint leaves, chopped - 2 tbsp
coriander leaves, chopped - 2tbsp
curry leaves - 2 sprigs
water 1/2 cup / as required
1/4 cup curd, beaten
Preparation
chana dal masala paste
heat a pan, roast chana dal, dried red chilis, grated coconut on low flame
cool completely
add this to a blender jar
add in cashew nuts
pour water required to blend into smooth paste
blend until smooth keep aside
in a kadai preheat oil
add potatoes fry until crisp
keep aside
in the same kadai, add onions, bay leaf, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick
sauté until onions are soft
add ginger garlic paste, curry leaves
mix well
allow to splutter
add in tomatoes, salt, mint leaves
mix well
cook covered until tomatoes are mushy
add in peas, green chilis, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala
mix well
cook covered for 3 mins
now add fried potatoes, chana dal masala paste, curd and water
mix well
cook covered for 10 mins - low flame
stir occasionally
turn off the flame
garnish with coriander leaves
taste aloo kurma is ready
can be served with steamed rice, roti, chapati, poori
