Saga’s balloon festival is the largest in Asia with 96 local and international hot air balloons of all colors, shapes and sizes taking to the sky. Check out animal-shaped and other unique balloons at the Balloon Fantasia, and stay until night for the La Montgolfier Nocturne balloon light up. At the “Balloon Classroom,” held every day during the festival, visitors can learn how balloons work by launching an actual balloon with a pilot and crew using a burner to inject hot air into the balloon (13:00-14:00, no reservation required). The “Umakamon Market” will also be open, offering a variety of fresh agricultural and marine products and specialties from Saga.

毎年11月上旬にかけて開催されるアジア最大の熱気球の国際大会が、3年ぶりに有観客で開催される。国内外から96機のカラフルなバルーンが集まり、秋の空に一斉に浮かび上がる光景は圧巻だ。アニメの人気キャラクターや動物たちが巨大バルーンになって登場する「バルーンファンタジア」や、11月5日と6日18:30〜19:15に開催される夜間係留「ラ・モンゴルフィエ・ノクチューン」も見どころ。期間中毎日行われる「気球教室」では、パイロットやクルーと一緒に実際の気球にバーナーで熱風を入れて気球を立ち上げ、気球の仕組みを学ぶことができる（13:00〜14:00、予約不要）。佐賀の農産物や水産物などの特産品や料理を販売する「うまかもん市場」も会場内にオープンする。
