Anatomically, lacrimal drainage system highlights the structures like tear sac, lacrimal canal, punctum, and gland. Then the palpebral portion of lacrimal Glands is discussed which gets infected through various means. Likewise, various tests are also available which are used to check whether this gland is working normal or there is any abnormality associated with it.

These tests include Schirmer’s test, rose Bengal staining, fluorescein dye test, digital subtraction dacryocystography, and dacryocystogram. Following this, dacryoadenitis is explained which is Inflammation of lacrimal gland and is divided into acute and chronic phase. It can be treated by the administration of Antiviral Drugs, Corticosteroids and other therapies. Lacrimal gland tumor is also discussed along with trauma to the inferior canaliculus.

One of the Congenital Anomaliesis chronic dacryostenosis which is a nasolacrimal obstruction. However, it can also be acquired. Next on, acute dacryocystitis comes under consideration. Moreover, in this Ophthalmology lecture, a surgery procedure is highlighted i.e. technique of dacryocystorhinostomy. This technique is used to remove the mucus retention. At the end, comments are given on nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
