Their 2014 album “Sun Eater” is frequently mentioned when the topic of ‘killer bass performances’ comes up, and bassist Nick Schendzielos offers a masterful demonstration on how to cut through a dense death-metal composition (and mix!) In this video, I hear “Sun Of Nihility” for the first time and quickly pick up on his method of “slipping through the cracks” when the guitar or drums lay back - even for just a few seconds! The sustained guitar chords offer a playground of notes for the bass to follow behind with, and the throaty Warwick tone announces its presence perfectly.
