Sonor Safari Drum Set

Описание к видео Sonor Safari Drum Set

This is me playing my Sonor Safari Drum Set to the song, "Be More", by the band Saffell. It was shot outside, down the street from where I live. I used a Honda EU1000 generator to power my mixing board. recorded onto Reaper using a Zoom R24 as a DAW. mic'd the kit with a Shure Beta 52A on the kick, Shure sm57 on the snare drum, Digital Reference clip on mic on the 10" tom, Sennheiser e602 on the floor tom, Sterling ST31 over the hats and a Blue 100 over the ride. ( my other small condenser mic broke while setting up.)
I used only EQ on the individual drum tracks and a mastering compressor on the master channel before rendering just to keep the volume consistant.
This Sonor Kit is a great buy. I changed some heads to get the tone I wanted but I am really impressed with it and think its a great addition to my gear. Perfect for those gigs with small spaces or volume constraints.

I changed the kick batter to an Aquarian Super Kick II and the Reso is an Evans EC2. I added the felt strip for dampening. ( note I was able to make a regular 16" drum head fit on this kick even though its hoops and not rims. worked fine. just make sure its centered as you tighten it down.)
I changed the tom heads to Remo pinstripes. I left the Chinese make Remo reso's on the toms, they did the job ok. I will eventually change those at some point.
I usually use a Ludwig Black Beauty for gigs, I would probably not use the Sonor snare that came with this kit a a live gig, but for this video I wanted to keep the kit intact. I did change the snare batter to an Evans EC1 reverse dot. I wanted to really crank it down and get a lot of crack and the EC1 reverse dot sounds really good when you do that, in my opinion.
The video was shot with one camera, three different angles in three different takes. You may see some performance differences between shot takes as I didn't play each separate performance exactly the same.
