David is a British photographer whose career took him from the heart of London’s 1980s club scene to the fast-paced world of celebrity photojournalism. In the mid-’80s, David became a witness to the cultural explosion that surrounded clubs, particularly the Limelight in London, where musicians, models, artists and rising stars came together in a blur of music, fashion, and excess.

His newly released book — a collection of photographs taken at the Limelight in 1986/87 — is both a time capsule and a celebration of that electric moment in London nightlife. Through his lens, we see the raw energy, the glamour, and the humanity behind the faces that defined an era, talk about what it was really like to document that 1980s scene from the inside, and what his images can tell us about the culture of celebrity then — and now.
