Описание к видео Bula Festival 2023

The Bula Festival is a bright and lively three-day event celebrating Fijian culture. This unique festival, created by the British Fijian community is in partnership with the British Army and supported by Rushmoor Borough Council. Our festival features a captivating array of artistic expressions from music, dance, performance, spoken word, circus arts, to crafts.

As part of our commitment to inclusivity and community cohesion, we’re proud to showcase the diverse and multicultural communities that form our service population within Defence and across the UK. This festival is an opportunity to enhance relationships within and beyond the military community, to share, learn, and grow together.

Fostering Multidisciplinary Creativity in the British Fijian Community

By its very nature, creative practice within and among the Fijian community is multidisciplinary, where visual arts, memory, oral histories, performance meet tradition and storytelling.

Fiji is the most diverse country in the South Pacific. The varied communities who call Fiji home have a multitude of artistic and creative practices that have gradually made their way to the UK.

The Bula Festival’s mission is to support, profile, and provide a platform for the art of the South Pacific, by showcasing, co-commissioning, and creating new outdoor projects which draw on these rich traditions.

This is the first time in the UK where there is a focus on this community.
