In Week 3 of DEVOTED, we return to the book of Joshua and confront a sobering reality:
when devotion is broken privately, the consequences are often felt publicly.
After the miraculous victory at Jericho, Israel experiences their first defeat in the Promised Land — not because God failed, but because devotion was compromised from within. Through the story of Achan, we learn how hidden sin weakens the whole community, why accountability is an act of love, and how confession restores spiritual power.
But the story doesn’t end with discipline — it moves toward forgiveness.
Through Israel’s encounter with the Gibeonites, we see that forgiveness does not erase consequences, but it does preserve unity and protect the heart. What deception intended for harm, God transforms into service.
