AMAZING SIGHTS & BITES in Vienna!

Описание к видео AMAZING SIGHTS & BITES in Vienna!

Vienna is a vast city with a rich history and incredible food. During our two-day whirlwind trip to Vienna we attempted to take in as many of the sights and bites that Vienna has to offer.

In order to learn more about the city of Vienna, we explored the city using an audio tour. Our first stop was the Vienna opera house. The opera house was first opened in 1869 and has a wealth of history and performances, including operas by Mozart and Beethovan. On our visit, we were lucky enough to see Mozart’s The Magic Flute, which was not only an incredible venue for an opera, but allowed us to explore the historic building.

Our tour also took us to the bustling Stephanplatz, a large, busy square in the center of Vienna. It is most known for being the home of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, one of the tallest churches in the world. If it’s not too crowded you can peek inside to see the ornate decor inside.

All that sightseeing built up an appetite, and Vienna has some incredible food to fill us up. For lunch we stopped at a Beisl, a type of pub or inn that serves hearty food and beer. Kern Beisl had some delicious hearty food and beer to satisfy us. We also experienced our first bit of cafe culture in Vienna, and stopped by Demel for an afternoon cake and coffee. What a delicious way to fill us up for more sightseeing!

We next stopped at Hofburg Palace, the former palace of the Habsburg dynasty in Austria. The Palace now houses museums and a treasury, which not only houses the beautiful crown jewels, but also helps to tell the history of the Habsburg dynasty in Austria. While we did not have enough time to explore much of the Hofburg Palace, we encourage those with more time to explore.

We continued our exploration of Vienna the next day, and tried some delicious apple strudel and cafe melange for breakfast. What a way to start the day! We next did an audio guide on the tram throughout Vienna. The tram runs on the ring road around the city, which used to be the walls of the city and now has monuments along the way to see while getting a unique perspective of the city.

We couldn’t leave Vienna without experiencing more delicious food. We finished out the day with some delicious open faced sandwiches and tiny beers at Trzesniewski Dorotheergasse, a Sacher Torte at Oberlaa cafe, and some classic Viennese dishes of Tafelspitz (boiled beef) and Wienerschnitze for dinner.

While we didn’t explore everything there is to do in Vienna, we certainly had a jam-packed two days in Vienna!
