Ryan Murphy’s Undervalued Utopia | HOLLYWOOD

Описание к видео Ryan Murphy’s Undervalued Utopia | HOLLYWOOD

Hollywood is a period piece set in 1940s post-WWII Hollywood. Mid-way through the series, things become more fiction than fact as the show reimagines what could have been if things were done differently back then. And it is precisely this historical inaccuracy that formed the crux of much criticism.

I personally think critics missed the point of the show, which was to showcase a eutopia set against an era rife with discrimination.

The miniseries is about a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers during the Hollywood Golden Age in the post-World War II era trying to make their dreams come true. The series received mixed reviews from critics who praised the acting and production values, but criticized the tone, writing, and artistic license taken. The series has received 12 nominations at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, including acting nods for Pope, Taylor, McDermott, and Parsons.
