Difficulty: How difficult the maneuvers are

Innovation: How innovative the surfer's moves are

Variety: How many different maneuvers the surfer performs

Combination: How well the surfer combines major maneuvers

Speed: How fast the surfer is

Power: How much power the surfer uses

Flow: How well the surfer flows through the wave

Board handling: How well the surfer handles the board

Critical section: How well the surfer performs in the critical section of the wave

Judges compare each wave to the other waves ridden that day. They use a scale of 0.1 to 10 to score each wave.
