In this lecture, Professor Tom Obokata identifies core obligations relating to trafficking of human beings established under international law and then provides an analysis on the extent to which these are implemented in the United Kingdom.

Professor Obokata is an expert on transnational organised crime generally, and trafficking of human beings in particular. He has a number of publications in these areas, the most recent one being "Transnational Organised Crime in International Law" (2010). He currently serves as the Adviser to the Northern Ireland Assembly All Party Group on Human Trafficking and previously provided expert advice to bodies such as the UK Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights, International Organisation for Migration and the European Union.
