Great news for all the fluke fishermen out there! The fluke fishing around the island weathered the ongoing easterlies and have stayed in the same places they were beforehand. Doormats pushing 11 pounds were reported within the past few days. And to add to the phenomenal fluking is the addition of stripers hitting the South Shore inlets. Better sea bassing has been the word in the Sound with the addition of some rapid porgy fishing. The Fred Golofaro Memorial Montauk classic took place last week and saw surf-caught striper up to 46-1/2 inches hit the board. Keep in mind this Friday through Sunday is the annual Tobay Boat Show. If you're in the market for a new boat or just want to see some of the finest ones available, this will be the place to be. The Fisherman will also be present at the event for the duration of it.
