Let's Fix: Sony MZ-R900 Minidisc Laser Replacement

I've had this nice minidisc recorder for a good 6 or 7 years and it's started skipping quite a bit on playback recently so Guntis, a generous fan of the channel, offered to send me a replacement laser to get it back up an playing smoothly. It's a common, well documented failure mode where over time these tiny floating laser lens mechanisms wear and have trouble keeping focus (which explains why they play well upside down as gravity is pulling in the opposite direction). So in this video we take a look at how to swap the laser module. Keep in mind this isn't an exact instructional video and is documentation of the first time I've attempted this so if you attempt to do the same I bear no responsibility for damage should something go awry.
